Oops...BUSTED!!! More Than 30 Kuwaiti Women Seek Divorce From Partying Husbands

To be fair, sometimes women cheat on their husbands as well. LOOOL!

More than 30 Kuwaiti women have filed for divorce after they discovered that their husbands spent the New Year’s Eve in Lebanon while claiming they were performing Umrah in Makkah, Saudi Arabia, a Kuwaiti lawyer said.

“Many husbands cause the end of their marriages by cheating and lying to their wives,” Abdullah Al Shibani said.

Spiritual trip

“At the beginning of this year, 33 Kuwaiti contacted me to file for divorce after they discovered that their husbands who said that they were on a spiritual trip to Makkah to perform Umrah in Saudi Arabia went in fact to Lebanon to celebrate New Year’s Eve,” the lawyer said, Al Seyassah daily reported on Tuesday.

Several activists and religious leaders have been calling for greater awareness about the significance of marriage amid alarming reports about the increasing rate of divorce in Kuwait.

“At times, we have the impression that divorce is a trend, a fashion, among spouses who put an end to their marriage even when they have to deal with slight problems,” Al Shibani said.

Trivial

“In a high number of cases, the husband files to divorce his wife for trivial reasons, such as when she colours her hair without asking for his opinion or because he feels she has a bad mouth smell.”

According to marriage counsellors cited by the daily, a large number of divorce cases are caused by “outsiders”.

Some husbands tend to share their home secrets with friends and allow them to interfere in their domestic lives and to encourage them to file for divorce, the counselors said. Many wives seek divorce after they are “pushed” by friends to get rid of their husbands, they said.

Ramadan Gift for Him

I asked him what he wanted for EID and he said presents are for children only. So I asked him again and he said, "_______" which he knows he has to wait a bit longer.  So I asked him again and for him to take me seriously.  Finally he told me what he wanted that I could actually buy him and it was a book about my home state of Louisiana.  He wants to know about my culture, where I come from and why I'm crazy. ;P

This is the book (picture above) that I ordered from Amazon.com.  I did buy him something else very special that I hope he will love.  That gift is a secret. ;)

Dear Muslim readers ~ I hope you are having a lovely Ramadan with your family. :)

Speak Kuwaiti

Speak and understand Arabic like a Kuwaiti.  There are 600 sentences and 1000 words inside the book.  From everyday conversation to the language of friendship.  This is a guide to Kuwaiti Arabic as it's really spoken.

This is the 1st Edition by K. Ahmad Ali published in 2011.

This book was a present from my Hayati who requested that I learn to speak some Kuwaiti before we get married.  This book is very helpful but I think I need to quit my job, hire a full time tutor and drink several bottles of wine. ;)

Social Media Day Gathering June 30, 2011 ~ Sometimes I miss out on a lot!

It's no secret to my friends and readers that I work a lot of hours in Kuwait.  This is the standard for most Americans working in the Middle East.  We all knew it when we agreed to come over here so if we don't like it then we can go home.

Yesterday morning I woke up around 4 AM and headed to work on what should have been a holiday.  Most Kuwaitis are off in honor of Isra Al Mi'Raj (Ascent of the Prophet Muhammad).  Most Americans have to work even if their employer is Kuwaiti.  Not only did I have to work extra late on Camp Arifjan, I had to work in this nasty dust storm.

The dust storm yesterday just wouldn't let up.  It kept getting worse as the day went on.

Imagine you are invited to the most awesome social media event ever in Kuwait but you are stuck at work while your friends are there having fun.  Not only do you have to work on a holiday but you keep hearing rumors that the camp gate will close soon and you will not be allowed to exit the base.  The dust storm keeps getting worse but you must finish your paperwork and safety incident reports.  You realize you could get stuck on Camp Arifjan without a bed or shower for the entire night.

When I finished everything and could leave the office the roads had very limited visibility.  Thank God the camp gate was still open and I was able to drive home in the dusty dark of night.  I called my sweetheart who talked to me the entire way home.  Since the roads were too dangerous to go out to dinner in Kuwait City like we planned we decided to make it an at home movie and dinner night.  This is when my prince turned my horrible day into something wonderful.

One of my favorite restaurants is the Fish Market.  The one at Spoons in Mahboula is excellent and fresh.  He went there in the middle of the sandstorm to pick up our dinner while I showered off the layers of dust, dirt and sand.

Here is the Lobster that he picked out for me. Whenever he gets Lobster for takeout he sneaks a picture and sends it via sms with accusations that I'm murdering an innocent creature.  For some reason he isn't embarrassed to do that! If I pull out my camera phone at any restaurant table he looks mortified .

Aussie Tail ~ Good day mate!

Thanks to him I ended up having a good night after a terrible day in the dust.  We watched the movie Passengers and it was okay.  I liked the ending and it was definitely the best part of the movie.

Today my asthma is acting up and the dust storm is even worse than yesterday.  I am relieved to be at home, enjoying good food and blogging in my pajamas.  Teeheehee.

I want to thank my fellow bloggers His & Hers Q8, Q8 Stig, and Omarker for the invitation to attend the Social Media Day Gathering yesterday at 2 PM.  I'm so sorry I missed it but I'm looking forward to the next one.  (Hopefully on the weekend ~ hint hint ;P)

6,000 KD ($21,600) is NOT Enough to Pay for Potential Medical Bills or Divorce!

Guess what I'm aiming for?

Once your first wife shoots a part of you off I think you might spend more on medical bills to attach that part back on! ;P

I don't get it? Beating ones husband can cause you to break a nail. *Tragic* Why didn't she just cook him dinner and put something in it to give him a slight case of food poisoning? That way he would never ask her to cook again.  Happy Days for all and a lifetime of marital bliss.

Kuwaiti's Always Ask Me This Question...

Common in Kuwait

Why are most American men with Filipinos in Kuwait?

This question always makes me giggle.  (Especially the look of bewilderment on their face.)

What would be your answer?

Something you never see in Kuwait

"Please don't tell my wife back in Georgia!"

I am So in Love with Him

I should feel completely homesick this Christmas season since I am so far from my family and loved ones. Instead I feel happy most of the time because he has done everything in his power to show me how much he loves me. He is more excited about Christmas than I am and he keeps reminding me how many days left until Christmas Eve.

He was so excited about buying me Christmas gifts which he picked out himself. He really is adorable and I have explained to him over and over that he is the only gift I want. I don't need anything else because he has already spoiled me rotten since the day we became more than friends. He keeps mentioning one big surprise for his princess that will make all my friends jealous. He actually said that to me and the way he says it is just precious and not pretentious at all. I haven’t told him that I’m like a little girl who can’t wait to see what Santa has left for her under the Christmas tree. I’m so curious and excited about his gifts but of course I would never let him know that. He is all I want and I came to this country never looking or expecting to find true love. In fact I was running from it instead of to it.

Today he told me he wrote a Christmas poem that he will read to me on Christmas day. He is very romantic and such an amazing writer. I decided not to travel until New Years Eve so I can spend Christmas week with him. He has agreed to give me more time to think about my future but as the days go by I realize that nobody could make me happier than he does.

I am so in love with him.

Please Don't Give My Mother Any Ideas

Russian woman calls in fake bomb threat to prevent daughter's marriage

(CNN) -- A Russian woman who did not want her daughter to fly abroad to get married told police Wednesday the daughter was going to blow up a plane, officials said.

The 33-year-old daughter intended to fly to Morocco for her wedding. But the flight from Moscow to Morocco was delayed Wednesday after the woman called to say her daughter was going to set off explosives, the internal affairs department said.

Investigators later tracked the call to a 56-year-old woman in the Russian city of Yaroslavl, east of Moscow.

The woman confessed to the call and was detained for making a terror threat, the department said. The mother explained that her daughter "recently fell in love with a Moroccan citizen and was planning to get married to him and move to Morocco," the department said.  The woman was against the marriage and did not want her daughter to move abroad, it added.

The daughter, who was removed from the flight, was later cleared after questioning. She then flew to Morocco.

His Rules

His Rules...

1. Live in Kuwait because of his career and family.

2. Live with his family until we build or buy our own house.

3. No male friends except work colleagues.

4. I can continue to work until I become a Mother but I have to find a job that doesn’t require me to work so many hours. He said that once we are married I do not have to work.

5. I can remain Christian but our Children will be raised as Muslims.

6. We can still have Christmas, Thanksgiving, Easter and Halloween celebrations.

7. I can continue to wear Western style clothes but they must be conservative. I do not have to cover my hair or wear Middle Eastern Style clothes.

8. I cannot drink any alcohol ever again after marriage.

9. He will not be the boss of me but I have to consult him first before I make any decisions regarding travel, work, family, etc.

10.  I must retain my good figure and not let myself go after marriage.  I should keep my hair as is, long and blonde and only trim the ends.  (Are my experimental hair color days over?)

11. Once we are engaged we can do certain things.  Once we are married we can do everything except for what is considered non-Islamic.

My Thoughts…

I enjoy living in Kuwait but I’m not sure if I can stay here forever.

There is no way I want to be a newlywed and live with his parents. That would take all the fun out of marriage for me. I’m afraid his Mother might make life difficult for me to say the least.

I suggested we have our own rented villa until we get our house. We can still keep an apartment inside his family’s house and stay there from time to time. That didn’t go over well.

I have male friends that are like family here. I understand his point so I will respect his wishes.  Hopefully my friends will become his friends.

I love my current job but it is taking a lot out of me. I will try to balance career and family life. I am not the type to be a stay at home wife. When I become a Mother I do want to raise them myself and be there for my children. No maid will ever take the place of their Mommy.

Religion is the hard part. I would rather teach them both religions and let them decide for themselves when they get older.

I will always celebrate my beloved American and Christian Holidays.

I already dress conservative so that isn’t a problem. However, I wear a bikini when I go to the Western, hotel beaches and pools in Kuwait with my girlfriends. When I swim at my apartment I wear a one piece.  I told him I will wear a one piece but he wants me to wear that Burkini thing. Can you imagine my tan lines? Nope, I won’t wear one of those big things.

I am not an alcoholic but I do drink outside of Kuwait. I enjoy wine with my meals, cocktails with the girls and cold beer on game day. We are arguing about this rule because I will remain Christian so why the need to give up alcohol?

We will be a team as husband and wife so we both should consult each other before making any major decisions.

I take pride in my figure.  I will always stay in good shape and take care of myself.  My Mother looks amazing still and she is in her forties.  He is a little chubby in the middle and so I laughed at that rule.

I will be a lady in the street and a freak in the sheets.  He laughed when I told him that.

Keeping Secrets:

I have been honest with him from the start but I haven’t told him everything. We started out as friends and I wasn't looking to meet anyone or get married. One of the things I will never tell him about is this blog. I know I will have to end this chapter of my life if I become his wife. Don’t worry…I’m not going to start a cupcake business or become a Stepford wife. I will still be me. ;P

Oooops, I think I tripped and fell on Mr. Right when I wasn't lookin'

Oooooooooh NO! I’m not ready! I'm too young. I wasn't looking! I'm afraid! I didn't see you coming......how did you find me? I don't know if I am ready to start this. I don't know if I can stay here forever and you can't leave.  I am so far from my family, my friends, my country. I want to hide from you or run but...

You are amazing and almost everything any girl could want. You are so intelligent, kind, generous, romantic, poetic, taller than me, handsome, protective and even a little stalkerish.  I know you will never give up until I say YES! I'm almost ready to surrender and agree to spend my life with you here in Kuwait forever.

Or I could run like Hell...lol

New Policy Aims at Preventing Kuwaitis from Marrying Foreigners

Panel eyes higher grants to overcome dowries problem

Arab Times, Kuwait City, Nov 14, 2010: In an attempt to discourage Kuwaitis from marrying foreigners and other Arabs abroad, the Committee for Limiting Kuwaiti Marriages Abroad has drafted a new policy whereby such marriages will be certified only if the Kuwaiti is 21 years of age or older, reports Al-Qabas daily.

Informed sources said the committee, which was formed by justice minister, is planning to submit a comprehensive report to the Cabinet suggesting Kuwaitis who marry their compatriots within the country be granted higher grants in order to overcome the problem of high dowries.

Sources said the committee will coordinate with neighboring countries to benefit from their experiences in this regard. The committee is also against the extending of minimum marriageable age limit for girls in the country and wants to curb the phenomenon of ‘Kuwaiti-foreigner marriages.’ Sources say representatives of the ministries of Justice, Interior and Foreign Affairs will hold a meeting this month to discuss some important proposals in this regard.

If you fell in love and wanted to marry a foreigner would this stop you?

Fat Boys Last Long Time

The Fatter the Man, the Better the Sex

by Sasha Brown-Worsham

Ladies, if you've been putting your hubby on a diet, you may want to rethink that plan. Turns out?

Fat men are better in bed.

Researchers at Erciyes University in Kayseri, Turkey, studied body mass index (BMI) and male sexual performance and discovered that fat men have better staying power than their slimmer counterparts. No joke.

Heavier men have sex for 7.3 minutes on average (what a treat!), while thinner men hold on for ... wait for it ... wait for it ...108 seconds.

Bring on the bacon, baby.

Seriously, this is insane. Do I want my husband to last longer and possibly die while he's inside me, or do I want him to last less than two minutes and never give me what I came for (pun intended)?

A dilemma of the highest magnitude.

Aesthetically, fat men are no great shakes. Sorry Drew Carey. I just can't do it. I love a cut man whose body shows the work he puts in at the gym. I like a man who looks fit and healthy and trim.

Here in the United States, where so many people (nearly 67 percent, in fact) have an unhealthy body mass, this news must be welcome.

Of course, it also raises the question: Is staying power really what defines "good in bed"? I daresay that definition would be different for every woman, but for me, it has a lot more to do with a combination of confidence, intelligence, and a willingness to explore. To each their own, though.

People who want sex to go long should look for fat guys. Maybe Peter Paul Rubens had the right idea after all. So, let's all get fat and have hours of sex! We may have heart attacks and not live to 35, but at least we'll have tons of good sex first!

Another article on the same research subject:

Sex researchers: "Size" does matter

By Judy Mandelbaum

Study shows that fatter men last longer in bed. Should Americans rejoice?
Fat is fun! At least, that's the word from Turkey this week. Researchers at Erciyes University in Kayseri have just completed a yearlong study correlating body mass index (BMI) and male sexual performance. Their findings: Men with excess body fat last longer in bed. In fact, heavier men were able to make love for an average of 7.3 minutes, while slender men could count themselves lucky if they held on for a mere 108 seconds.

The reason? Female hormones. Men with excess fat showed higher levels of the female estradiol sex hormone. This substance apparently disrupted their bodies' natural "male" neurotransmitter chemicals and slowed their progression towards orgasm. Ironically, the less masculine their bodies appeared, the better lovers they proved to be.

The scientists compared the BMI and sexual performance of over 100 men who were being treated for sexual dysfunction with 100 other males who lasted longer during sex. They found that men suffering from premature ejaculation were on the whole thinner and fitter than their "better endowed" brethren.

Using the researchers' logic, you might think that American men, living in what the World Health Organization has identified as the world's third fattest country with an estimated 66.7 percent of the population living well over the line, would be the world's most exquisite lovers. Unfortunately, the study does not take a stand on this issue. Nor is there any scientific or anecdotal evidence to suggest that it is true. In fact, last year the global research website Onepoll.com conducted a survey of 15,000 women from 20 countries on the subject, and Americans showed up fifth from the bottom for being "too rough." (Spaniards, Brazilians and Italians took top honors.) But as Benjamin Disraeli supposedly said, "There are lies, damn lies, and statistics."

This is not to deny that, when it comes to overweight lovers, there may also be an issue of "quality vs. quantity" involved, not to mention aesthetic and cardiological issues etc., but why spoil a good story? For now, make sure your next love banquet includes plenty of chips and beer, bratwursts and pecan pies. Nowadays, when it comes to sex, fat is the new thin.

Pure Lies

Surge in 'virginity repair' operations on NHS as increasing number of women hide evidence of sex before marriage

An increasing number of women are having controversial 'virginity repair' operations on the NHS before they get married.

In the last five years, 116 hymen repair operations have been undertaken at the tax payer's expense. Thousands more women are believed to be paying up to £4,000 to have the surgery done privately each year.  NHS surgeons carried out 30 of the procedures in 2009 - up 20 per cent from 2005.  In the private sector one Harley Street doctor claimed to carry out up to three of the operations a day.  The specialist who offers a hymenoplasty for £1,850, said demand had tripled in recent years.

The operation, which is available on the NHS 'for physical and psychological' reasons, takes just half an hour.  Private practitioners have claimed a surge in demand in the operation has been driven largely by Muslim women desperate to preserve the illusion that they have not had sex before their wedding night.  The procedure - viewed by some as invasive and degrading - sees the hymen stitched or reconstructed so that it will tear and bleed again on the woman's wedding night.  Many women give false names and addresses and some are even buying chastity certificates to 'prove' that they are virgins.

Consultant gynaecologist Dr Magdy Hend performs hymenoplasty under local anaesthetic at his Regency Clinic on London's Harley Street.  He said: 'In the past, we would do one or two hymen reconstruction operations a week. Sometimes now, we get two or three women a day wanting it. Demand has tripled.  'The majority of our clients are Muslim women. They worry about having had sex and their fiance and family knowing that they have been touched before.  'It is more cultural rather religious. If the bride is not a virgin and does not bleed on the wedding night, it is a big shame on the family.  'The woman fears that the husband will walk out, divorce or humiliate her all her life. There have been honour killings in extreme cases.

'It is simple surgery that takes only half an hour. They can have it done at lunchtime and do not have to give their real names and addresses. They are paying up to £4,000 at other clinics.'  Consultant surgeon Ash Mosahebi, who performs the procedure at various London clinics, said he had noticed a recent rise in demand of around 40 per cent.  He said: 'There is a clash of cultures where Muslim women are leading westernised lifestyles but then wanting to conform to the traditional lifestyle of remaining a virgin.

'As it becomes more widely known that operations are available, they are getting to hear about them from friends and increasingly considering it.'  Critics, including moderate Muslim groups, have condemned the trend as a sign of the spread of Islamic fundamentalism in the West.

Imam Dr Taj Hargey, chairman of the Muslim Educational Centre in Oxford, called on the Muslim community to try to reverse the trend.  He said: 'The rise in the number of these operations in Britain is a very disturbing trend.  'The situation is very common in the Middle East where there is a huge scandal that can lead to divorce or even honour killings if there are not bloodstained bed sheets after the wedding night.  'It is very disappointing that Muslim women in this country feel they need to lead a double life, resorting to subterfuge surgery.  'That is not conducive to either their psychological or spiritual health and it is hypocrisy and double standards because Muslim men are doing as they please with women.  'The Muslim community should be confronting the issue rather than pretending it is not happening. I shall be speaking out about it in my next sermon.'

The latest official NHS statistics were compiled by the NHS Information Centre for health and social care.  There have been calls for a ban on NHS surgeons carrying out the operations for women wanting to marry as virgins.  But a Department of Health spokeswoman insisted that hymen repair operations only take place on the NHS to ensure a patient's 'physical or psychological health'.  She said: 'The NHS does not fund hymen repair operations for cultural reasons. All operations on the NHS are on the basis of clinical need.  'Operations to repair the hymen are only carried out exceptionally to secure physical or psychological health.'

If I Don't Marry Before My 25th Birthday I'll be Considered a Spinster in Kuwait!

If I do marry a Kuwaiti man before I'm 25 then we are contributing to the "grave threat on Kuwaiti society" known as spinsterhood because I am foreign.  Loooooooooooooooooooooooooool!

Arab Times, Kuwait City, July 25, 2010

Rising number of spinsters poses grave threat to society

Att Majdi attributes problem to Kuwaiti traditions

The rising number of unmarried Kuwaiti women aged 25 to 65 — around 30,000 according to a statistical report released recently by the Public Authority for Civil Information (PACI) — poses a grave threat to the Kuwaiti society, since the steps taken to reduce this number, including the administrative barriers set against Kuwaiti men marrying non-Kuwaitis, have not yielded the desired results.

The experts have warned against the rising number of unmarried Kuwaiti women from the aforementioned age group, considering a majority of these women usually complete their education around the age of 23.

While most people agree on the negative impact of this phenomenon on the society, their opinions vary on the causes of the rising number of unmarried Kuwaiti women.

Traditions

Attorney Mohammad Al-Majdi has attributed the problem to the Kuwaiti traditions, referring to the divisions in the society, as people in the country have been categorized into classes, tribes, rich and poor, pure origin or not. He believes most Kuwaiti women avoid marriage due to these factors.

Political activist Aysha Al-Omair opined being single has become an option for many Kuwaiti women due to the development of the society, allowing them to play an active role in the social and political arenas, so they might not prioritize marriage. She said women also delay marriage for many years as they want to focus first on career development.

Sharia Professor at Kuwait University Salem Al-Shammari pointed out the society’s failure to address the problem might lead to disorder, depravity and immorality. He claimed some people are actually committing grave sins by deliberately delaying the marriage of their sisters.
