Protect Your...
Please read this entire post. It could save your life or a relative.
This week I received the first shot of the three step HPV vaccine. I didn't feel pain or suffer from any side effects. This initial shot cost me 60 KD ($210) which sounds expensive but you can't put a price on saving your own life. I will follow up in one month with my second shot and then in six months to complete the three part series.
It is so important to get your vaccine before you become sexually active or exposed to HPV. Before you get married or start any intimate relationship you should have received all three shots. Your future spouse or partner might carry the HPV (human papillomavirus) disease without even knowing he or she has it. This vaccine could save your life and I want to encourage everyone reading my blog to please talk to your doctor, get informed and consider getting vaccinated. I did it and you can too!

Who should get HPV vaccine?
Cervarix and Gardasil vaccines are licensed, safe, and effective for females ages 9 through 26 years. CDC recommends that all girls who are 11 or 12 years old get the 3 doses (shots) of either brand of HPV vaccine to protect against cervical cancer and precancer. Gardasil also protects against most genital warts. Girls and young women ages 13 through 26 should get all 3 doses of an HPV vaccine if they have not received all doses yet.
Gardasil is also licensed, safe, and effective for males ages 9 through 26 years. Boys and young men may choose to get this vaccine to prevent genital warts. People who have already had sexual contact before getting all 3 doses of an HPV vaccine might still benefit if they were not infected before vaccination with the HPV types included in the vaccine they received. The best way to be sure that a person gets the most benefit from HPV vaccination is to complete all three doses before sexual activity begins.
Why are HPV vaccines needed?
HPV vaccines prevent serious health problems, such as cervical cancer and other, less common cancers, which are caused by HPV (human papillomavirus). In addition to cancer, HPV can also cause other health problems, such as genital warts. HPV is a common virus that is easily spread by skin-to-skin contact during sexual activity with another person. It is possible to have HPV without knowing it, so it is possible to unknowingly spread HPV to another person. Safe, effective vaccines are available to protect females and males against some of the most common types of HPV and the health problems that the virus can cause.
Are the HPV vaccines safe and effective?
FDA has licensed the vaccines as safe and effective. Both vaccines were tested in thousands of people around the world. These studies showed no serious side effects. Common, mild side effects included pain where the shot was given, fever, headache, and nausea. As with all vaccines, CDC and FDA continue to monitor the safety of these vaccines very carefully.

Fat Boys Last Long Time
The Fatter the Man, the Better the Sex
by Sasha Brown-Worsham
Ladies, if you've been putting your hubby on a diet, you may want to rethink that plan. Turns out?
Fat men are better in bed.
Researchers at Erciyes University in Kayseri, Turkey, studied body mass index (BMI) and male sexual performance and discovered that fat men have better staying power than their slimmer counterparts. No joke.
Heavier men have sex for 7.3 minutes on average (what a treat!), while thinner men hold on for ... wait for it ... wait for it ...108 seconds.
Bring on the bacon, baby.
Seriously, this is insane. Do I want my husband to last longer and possibly die while he's inside me, or do I want him to last less than two minutes and never give me what I came for (pun intended)?
A dilemma of the highest magnitude.
Aesthetically, fat men are no great shakes. Sorry Drew Carey. I just can't do it. I love a cut man whose body shows the work he puts in at the gym. I like a man who looks fit and healthy and trim.
Here in the United States, where so many people (nearly 67 percent, in fact) have an unhealthy body mass, this news must be welcome.
Of course, it also raises the question: Is staying power really what defines "good in bed"? I daresay that definition would be different for every woman, but for me, it has a lot more to do with a combination of confidence, intelligence, and a willingness to explore. To each their own, though.
People who want sex to go long should look for fat guys. Maybe Peter Paul Rubens had the right idea after all. So, let's all get fat and have hours of sex! We may have heart attacks and not live to 35, but at least we'll have tons of good sex first!
Another article on the same research subject:
Sex researchers: "Size" does matter
By Judy Mandelbaum
Study shows that fatter men last longer in bed. Should Americans rejoice?
Fat is fun! At least, that's the word from Turkey this week. Researchers at Erciyes University in Kayseri have just completed a yearlong study correlating body mass index (BMI) and male sexual performance. Their findings: Men with excess body fat last longer in bed. In fact, heavier men were able to make love for an average of 7.3 minutes, while slender men could count themselves lucky if they held on for a mere 108 seconds.
The reason? Female hormones. Men with excess fat showed higher levels of the female estradiol sex hormone. This substance apparently disrupted their bodies' natural "male" neurotransmitter chemicals and slowed their progression towards orgasm. Ironically, the less masculine their bodies appeared, the better lovers they proved to be.
The scientists compared the BMI and sexual performance of over 100 men who were being treated for sexual dysfunction with 100 other males who lasted longer during sex. They found that men suffering from premature ejaculation were on the whole thinner and fitter than their "better endowed" brethren.
Using the researchers' logic, you might think that American men, living in what the World Health Organization has identified as the world's third fattest country with an estimated 66.7 percent of the population living well over the line, would be the world's most exquisite lovers. Unfortunately, the study does not take a stand on this issue. Nor is there any scientific or anecdotal evidence to suggest that it is true. In fact, last year the global research website Onepoll.com conducted a survey of 15,000 women from 20 countries on the subject, and Americans showed up fifth from the bottom for being "too rough." (Spaniards, Brazilians and Italians took top honors.) But as Benjamin Disraeli supposedly said, "There are lies, damn lies, and statistics."
This is not to deny that, when it comes to overweight lovers, there may also be an issue of "quality vs. quantity" involved, not to mention aesthetic and cardiological issues etc., but why spoil a good story? For now, make sure your next love banquet includes plenty of chips and beer, bratwursts and pecan pies. Nowadays, when it comes to sex, fat is the new thin.

Surge in 'virginity repair' operations on NHS as increasing number of women hide evidence of sex before marriage
An increasing number of women are having controversial 'virginity repair' operations on the NHS before they get married.
In the last five years, 116 hymen repair operations have been undertaken at the tax payer's expense. Thousands more women are believed to be paying up to £4,000 to have the surgery done privately each year. NHS surgeons carried out 30 of the procedures in 2009 - up 20 per cent from 2005. In the private sector one Harley Street doctor claimed to carry out up to three of the operations a day. The specialist who offers a hymenoplasty for £1,850, said demand had tripled in recent years.
The operation, which is available on the NHS 'for physical and psychological' reasons, takes just half an hour. Private practitioners have claimed a surge in demand in the operation has been driven largely by Muslim women desperate to preserve the illusion that they have not had sex before their wedding night. The procedure - viewed by some as invasive and degrading - sees the hymen stitched or reconstructed so that it will tear and bleed again on the woman's wedding night. Many women give false names and addresses and some are even buying chastity certificates to 'prove' that they are virgins.
Consultant gynaecologist Dr Magdy Hend performs hymenoplasty under local anaesthetic at his Regency Clinic on London's Harley Street. He said: 'In the past, we would do one or two hymen reconstruction operations a week. Sometimes now, we get two or three women a day wanting it. Demand has tripled. 'The majority of our clients are Muslim women. They worry about having had sex and their fiance and family knowing that they have been touched before. 'It is more cultural rather religious. If the bride is not a virgin and does not bleed on the wedding night, it is a big shame on the family. 'The woman fears that the husband will walk out, divorce or humiliate her all her life. There have been honour killings in extreme cases.
'It is simple surgery that takes only half an hour. They can have it done at lunchtime and do not have to give their real names and addresses. They are paying up to £4,000 at other clinics.' Consultant surgeon Ash Mosahebi, who performs the procedure at various London clinics, said he had noticed a recent rise in demand of around 40 per cent. He said: 'There is a clash of cultures where Muslim women are leading westernised lifestyles but then wanting to conform to the traditional lifestyle of remaining a virgin.
'As it becomes more widely known that operations are available, they are getting to hear about them from friends and increasingly considering it.' Critics, including moderate Muslim groups, have condemned the trend as a sign of the spread of Islamic fundamentalism in the West.
Imam Dr Taj Hargey, chairman of the Muslim Educational Centre in Oxford, called on the Muslim community to try to reverse the trend. He said: 'The rise in the number of these operations in Britain is a very disturbing trend. 'The situation is very common in the Middle East where there is a huge scandal that can lead to divorce or even honour killings if there are not bloodstained bed sheets after the wedding night. 'It is very disappointing that Muslim women in this country feel they need to lead a double life, resorting to subterfuge surgery. 'That is not conducive to either their psychological or spiritual health and it is hypocrisy and double standards because Muslim men are doing as they please with women. 'The Muslim community should be confronting the issue rather than pretending it is not happening. I shall be speaking out about it in my next sermon.'
The latest official NHS statistics were compiled by the NHS Information Centre for health and social care. There have been calls for a ban on NHS surgeons carrying out the operations for women wanting to marry as virgins. But a Department of Health spokeswoman insisted that hymen repair operations only take place on the NHS to ensure a patient's 'physical or psychological health'. She said: 'The NHS does not fund hymen repair operations for cultural reasons. All operations on the NHS are on the basis of clinical need. 'Operations to repair the hymen are only carried out exceptionally to secure physical or psychological health.'

Perversion of paradise: Thousands of British men fuel a vile sex trade in Thailand - but who's really exploiting who?
Early afternoon and a middle-aged, balding British tourist is striding purposefully down Beach Road, Pattaya's main street, with a Thai girl slung over his shoulder. He's obviously in a hurry, preferring to walk between the traffic rather than along the crowded pavement. The girl's long, dark hair swishes round his back. Suddenly, she pops up her head, grins and then flops back, making no attempt to free herself. She seems little more than a teenager.
'It's OK, she's fine,' says the man, without slowing down. 'Another 200 yards and that's my hotel.' Hardly anyone one bothers to look - not much in Pattaya merits a second glance. This is the resort, a two-hour drive from Bangkok, where another middle-aged Brit loved to spend his holidays - Derrick Bird, the Cumbria killer.
'Thailand's capital of fun' is how the pocket guidebook to the town describes the place, which attracts a million visitors a year. A less kind, but more accurate, description would be one huge brothel. The average visitor appears to be male, 40 or more, probably losing his hair, frequently fat, very likely British and there for one reason only - to buy sex with young Thai women.
Though there are many other nationalities there, the town is geared to the Brits. Pubs offer heart-clotting all-day breakfasts and giant portions of toad in the hole to set up holidaymakers for a long night cruising the streets crammed with massage parlours and bars, many with names too crude to mention. There are two kinds of bar in Pattaya. Bird apparently preferred the quieter sort, the oddly named bar-beers, over the brasher go-go bars.
Sex for sale: Cumbria killer Derrick Bird with On, his 32-year-old Thai bar girlfriend
There's even an official tourist police force, many of whom are long-term British residents, who patrol the streets around the sex bars.
Outside, two middle-aged men flag down one of the songtaew buses that cruise round the downtown area. They're heading back to their hotel with two girls. One man is hugely fat, sweat oozing across his T-shirt where his man-boobs droop down onto his beer belly. The girls are tiny, beautiful and snuggle up adoringly. 'I'm exhausted. I'll need a holiday when I get back,' says the fat man in a Merseyside accent. His pal laughs. 'And you'll never be able to tell anyone why - what happens in Pattaya has to stay censored for them back home.'
To his annoyance, his girl answers her mobile phone. It's obviously another punter. 'Hi honey,' she coos. 'No, I not work tonight, I sick.' Her friend giggles and the woman shushes her. 'No, you my number one man, I see you very soon, honey, I miss you.' She hangs up and cosies back up to her new number one man.
Like Derrick Bird, many of the men who come to Pattaya are lonely and delusional enough to mistake a transaction for a relationship. The women may promise to stay off the game if the men continue to send them money when they get back to Britain, as Bird did. On apparently told him she needed money to do up her house so they could live there, happily ever after.
'I'd like to find a foreigner to be my partner so we can care for each other' That's a line that could have come straight out of an extraordinary little book that's hard to find, but much sought after in Pattaya. It's called Get Rich Quick English For Bar Girls. It's a Thai-English dictionary for seduction, sex and survival. These men will believe anything! Even that the hookers are going to remain faithful to them after they leave, as long as they send money every month. Of course there are many suckers sending them money so they only need a little, because it all adds up.
Geared for Brits: Pattaya's pubs sets up holidaymakers for a long night cruising the streets crammed with massage parlours and bars
Si thought she would get work as a waitress in Pattaya, but quickly realised she wouldn't earn enough to keep herself, let alone send money home for her children. She has to sell sex to farang - foreigners. And the little phrasebook has taught her how.
There's a list of names for relevant body parts - anatomical and swear versions. Other chapters have useful phrases such as: 'You're the man of my dreams'; 'I love you, not your money'; and 'I never slept with a foreigner before, I'm still a virgin'.
Then there's a whole section on how to ask for money, which includes: 'My father is in hospital'; 'My brother needs school books'; and 'I have really bad toothache and need to pay the dentist'.
Si says she tried working as a labourer and looked for jobs in one of Thailand's huge electronics factories, but only sex pays a living wage. She claims she's been with only three men since she came to Pattaya two months ago because she hates it so much.
'If most girls are honest, they hate it, too. I'd like to find a foreigner to be my partner so we can care for each other,' she says, as tears well up in her eyes. It's probably true, but unfortunately it sounds just like a line from her little book.
There are a few attractions-other than sex on offer in Pattaya. One of them is a shooting range a few miles out of town - another place Bird visited. Pick a pistol and you can fire at a life-sized cut-out of a man, then take the target home as a souvenir, which Bird did. Or you can blast away with a pump-action shotgun - the kind of weapon Bird used on his murderous rampage.
You aim at metal squares - a paper target would be no good because one hit from a powerful cartridge would shred the target. One of the unexpected things about Pattaya is that there's nothing threatening or violent about the atmosphere.
On a Saturday at a crowded bar at 2am is Peter. He's a quietly spoken, neat man in his early 60s from Derby, whose wife died from cancer 11 years ago. When one of the BGs asks if he 'wants to play', he nods enthusiastically. As a regular visitor, he knows what will happen next. From under the bar she pulls out a game of Connect 4 and the pair of them giggle away while she thrashes him at noughts and crosses. He might pay for 'short time' a bit later, but many evenings he just sits and chats. He says his wife is irreplaceable and: 'Britain is going to the dogs - can you imagine if this was Derby on a Friday night?' And in many ways he's right. In most British cities, the street would be full of girls brawling, sprawling and spewing. In Pattaya, they're smiling, decorous and attentive.
Clearly all sorts of men go there as sex tourists, not just social misfits. But Derrick Bird isn't Pattaya's only notorious visitor. In the mid-Nineties, a young QE2 steward came ashore and discovered a lust for prostitutes. His name was Steve Wright - he's better known as the Suffolk Strangler, who murdered five women in Ipswich in 2006. And Josef Fritzl also enjoyed himself there, while the daughter he repeatedly raped and the children she bore as a result remained locked in a cellar back home in Austria.
In one of the posh hotels at the nicer end of town, a fat man with skinny white legs comes down to breakfast with a Thai woman less than half his age. 'I'll say something in English and you teach me the Thai,' he says. She smiles in agreement. He picks a phrase that's probably already in the Get Rich Quick handbook: 'Go to the bedroom.'

A Little Shop of Love ~ The First of its Kind to Open in the Gulf
A BAHRAINI woman who owns and runs what is believed to be the first sex shop in the region says she is saving marriages, by spicing up couples' love lives. Khadija Ahmed says her products help prevent infidelity by putting the excitement back into people's marriages.
"My business is legitimate and I have all the necessary papers from the Industry and Commerce Ministry," said Ms Ahmed, who opened Khadija Fashion House in 2008. "I established the store to help married couples, because the issue most Bahraini couples suffer from is the lack of interest in their intimate relationship. "Infidelity is one of the main reasons couples get divorced and my store helps tackle that, because once the intimate relations of a couple become better, then they will work harder on their relationship. "It's similar to marriage counselling, but concentrating on the sex lives of couples. New and exciting passion breaks the daily routine of married life."
The 32-year-old mother-of-three appeared before the Lower Criminal Court yesterday, accused of insulting a Customs officer in a row as she tried to import some of her products, which include sex aids and games.
The case was adjourned until September 15, but Ms Ahmed, who denies the charge, says it has already cost her a night in a police cell and lost income on products blocked by Customs.
Customs officials say some of the products which Ms Ahmed tries to import are unauthorised. But Ms Ahmed argues that some are already on sale in pharmacies and other stores and that she is doing nothing wrong, since her target customers are married couples. She says she has built up a large customer base at the store, which is located in the heart of Jidali, on one of Bahrain's busiest roads.
"The products I sell don't go against Islam. There is nothing that prohibits married couples from enjoying their sex lives, or preventing them from having a happy marriage," said Ms Ahmed. "In the beginning I didn't face many problems but when my store became famous among locals and I started shipping in more orders, I faced a major barricade at the Customs office. "Customs staff confiscated some of my products, even though some are widely available in pharmacies and other stores. "Then representatives from the Customs Affairs and the Industry and Commerce Ministry created a committee to discuss my store and products. "They concluded that I couldn't ship in some of the things I sell. "Some of the reasons I received were that my business caused an uproar among religious leaders and some people were scared their children would get hold of my products. "But I never got any religious leaders or MPs opposing my store. I even spoke to a religious figure recently and he didn't oppose me, so why am I being targeted ?"
Ms Ahmed claims she was "locked up with prostitutes" overnight on May 6, before being released on bail, following the row with a Customs official, but is determined to continue her mission. "People are misunderstanding the goal of my business, which is why I believe I am facing such opposition," she said. "Bahrainis should be proud that they have a woman like me who is bold enough to create a business that serves married couples and they shouldn't stand against me."
Ms Ahmed appeared on a regional television programme in Lebanon last week which discussed whether the Arab world is ready for such a store. The programme was called Sex Shop Halal and was aired on the Future channel. Ms Ahmed said her family was fully supporting her, despite their personal views. "My family has been supportive because they know no-one can stand in my way and stop me from fulfilling my goals," she said. But she is bracing for problems, fearing that others may whip up ill feeling. "I am not scared but I have a feeling that worse things are coming my way. I will face them because I believe my business is helping couples and I know I am not doing anything wrong," she said. "I have a large customer base and I have received many emails and phone calls from people thanking me for saving their marriage. "Our society needs to come to terms with the fact that this actually helps married couples."
