Warning: European Woman Abducted and Raped in Kuwait! (Or was she American?)

Arab Times, Kuwait City, August 1, 2011: A European woman filed a complaint with police against two unidentified men, who allegedly kidnapped and sexually assaulted her inside a flat in Riqqae. According to the woman, she was coming out of her flat in Salmiya, along with a female friend, when a vehicle suddenly stopped in front of them, and then two men got out and forced her into the car. Her friend immediately called police, who rushed to the location but the alleged kidnappers were no longer in sight.

After three hours, the kidnapped woman returned to her flat in Salmiya and told the securitymen that her abductors took her to an apartment in Riqqae where they assaulted her sexually and later left her on the road, so she took a taxi to her flat. During interrogations, the woman provided police with a detailed description of her attackers and their vehicle. Police are now looking for the suspects.

How can this happen on the first day of the Holy Month of Ramadan?

I could not believe my eyes when I read this today at work.  It was the first day of Ramadan and she was with her friend when the rapists abducted her.

Attacks on Western Women in Kuwait are increasing at an alarming rate.  I used to feel safer in Kuwait than I did in America but this is no longer true.

My heart and full support goes out to this woman.  I hope the police catch these monsters immediately and punish them to the fullest extent of the law! May they rot in jail.

STOP violence against all women!

Arab Times, Kuwait City, August 3, 2011:  Manhunt for rapists: Police are looking for two unidentified persons for allegedly kidnapping and raping a young American woman, reports Al-Shahed daily. A police source said this happened when her vehicle had a breakdown on the Arabian Gulf Street. The woman said two youths offered to help her and instead of taking her home they took her to an apartment in Salmiya and ‘raped’ her. After having fun with her the youths helped her into a taxi and told the driver to take her to the Arabian Gulf Street. However, the Al-Anba and Al-Watan Arabic dailies said the girl is Italian.

Arab Times Article

Can the local newspapers please get their facts straight? Are these two articles related? Is it an American woman or is she Italian? This is very scary and knowing what actually happened would benefit us all.
