In 2009 I spent three weeks traveling around Turkey by airplane and private car. We took a ferry to a tiny Greek island for one day. The Turkish travel agency we used booked us in all 5 star hotels for reasonable prices. We had private Turkish guides at almost every major stop and they were outstanding. Our rental car was really nice and it took us up and down the mountains to the coast of the Mediterranean and Aegean Sea before heading back to Istanbul. Most of the Turkish people were warm and friendly. My Mother and I felt safe throughout the region except for a few run-ins with male stalkers. I would highly recommend a vacation to Turkey.
